The structure of Joomla!

MVC model of Joomla! 1.5 The Joomla framework, the core of the system, controls all the basic elements of a website, such as the logged in users, the rights of visitors and users to retrieve data from different sources. Then there are three elements (extensions, extensions in english) in Joomla! activated by the framework:

Components: programs written in PHP that actually perform actions such as the processing of news from plain text to HTML-formatted text. The main advantage of the Components is the ability they offer to the website in question functionally expand. This could include a guestbook, download area, photo gallery, etc.

Modules: blocks on the site next to the main content can be displayed. Examples include menus, calendars, random pictures and recent additions.

Plug-ins: transforming text in the content of a page to a formatted text, without taking into account the templates / templates. A standard included plug-in provides, for example, that an e-mail address in the page content is converted to a spambot unreadable code. For the release of Joomla! 1.5, the plug-ins known as Mambots.
